The Himalaya Drug Company was founded in 1930 by Mohammed Manal. He dreamed to discover the secrets of Ayurveda, that is why he studied ancient texts, selected medicinal plants, tested the effectiveness and safety of formulations with the help of modern pharmacological and toxicological studies.
Ninety years later this vision was embodied in the company's mission regarding the human lives by the promise "Well-being in every home and happiness in every heart".
In 1934 after four years of extensive researches the company released Serpina®. It is the world's first agent of plant origin for hypertension treatment.
In 1955 Himalaya company introduced its second medical breakthrough - Liv.52®, the liver medicine. It has become synonymous with the Himalaya brand and the best-selling herbal medicine.
Many other iconic brands were introduced in the following years, such as Septilin, Cystone, Bonnisan, Tentex Forte and Rumalaya Forte. They become landmarks and won the trust of customers.
The names went through the rebranding to combine the entire range of offerings during the company development (Portfolios in Pharmacy Practice, Personal Care, Childcare, Himalaya Drug Co., Himalaya Personal Care, Himalaya For Mom, Himalaya Herbals, Nutrition, Home Care, Wellness and Animal Health) under one roof Himalaya Since 1930.
Today Himalaya is a leading international organization for medicinal plants with nearly 500 products in over the 100 countries.
The R&D department of Himalaya Drug Company tasks are: the product creation, quality control and standardization. The company's products are the result of diligent scientific work and the use of modern equipment, the best specialists and technologies. It takes years of research before they get to the market.
The pharmaceutical products are created in compliance with the following rules:
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Good laboratory practice (GLP)
- Good clinical practice (GCP)
In 2001 the company was the first in India to receive GMP Certificate (Good Manufacturing Practice). It confirms that the production of Himalaya Drug Co. fully complies with the requirements for the organization process of production and quality control of medical and veterinary medicines.
ISO 9001: 2000 - in 2003 the company received an International Standardization Certificate.
In 2018 the commission of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation confirmed the compliance of Himalaya Drug Co. to the GMP requirements and issued a corresponding conclusion.
